It was a dark, rainy night. I was home alone, as my parents went out for dinner. It was only me and my dog. I could hear the wind trying to bother me, putting pressure against my windows. I was not happy to be all alone because at the time I had a huge fear of the dark, so I decided to shut all my windows close and go to sleep, trying not to worry about it.
As time went by, I noticed I couldn't fall asleep, which wasn't a big deal because I would often have trouble with sleeping, but this night felt different. I felt like I was being watched by someone who was heavily breathing across the room. I was scared. I wanted jump out of bed and bust the person who's doing this, but I was too frightened to move. I was paralyzed.
Minutes pass, and I can feel the breathing coming closer and being more intense. I wanted to shout out loud for help, but I just couldn't. Tears started flowing down my eyes, as I went crazy in my bed. Even the wind outside was getting more and more angry. I couldn't resist this.
I suddenly had enough courage to move! It was like God decided to help me! I felt the bravest of all. I immediately jumped out of bed, picking up the baseball bat I had right next to my bed since I was a baseball player. I start screaming and throwing kicks.
All of a sudden, I hear my dog barking. There was no one in my room, but me and him. What? I go to turn on the light. The room is full of light, yet no person other than me. It was then I realized that the heavy breathing was my dogs breathing! I now felt stupid and childish for being scared of my pet. I started laughing and bent down to pet my dog.
It was a crazy night. I'm so glad that the only intruder was my best friend dog. Or... was it?..
